MARCHING BANDS

Grambling State University “World Famed Tiger Marching Band”

The GSU Tiger marching band has always been known to give the audience a show to remember! The band has performed in more Super Bowl halftime shows than any other, including Super Bowls I and II. Other notable performances from the Tigers include the inaugural parade for U.S. Presidents George W. Bush, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden, a television commercial with Coca-Cola, the award-winning Denzel Washington film, “The Great Debaters”, and many more.

Prairie View A&M “Marching Storm”

The PVAMU “Marching Storm” marching band was the first HBCU band to perform in the inaugural performance of the Rose Parade! They have performed in Presidential Inaugural Parades, Thanksgiving halftime shows for the Dallas Cowboys and the Houston Texans, the annual ESSENCE Music Festival in Houston, numerous annual Honda Battle of the Bands contests, and the Superbowl 45 Halftime Show with the Blackeyed Peas and Usher. Recently, the Marching Storm band was featured in an eight-episode docu-series with CW and was ranked as the top HBCU Division I band by ESPN’s The Undefeated.

The GSU Tigers finished the 2021 season with a 3-5 conference record and 4-7 overall, averaging 16 points a game. With a rough season offensively, the Tigers are hoping to rise the ranks to a conference championship with a record 36 new recruits, and a fairly new head coach, Hue Jackson.
