Texas Southern University “Ocean of Soul”

TSU’s Ocean of Soul Marching Band has developed an enviable reputation for its captivating performances and melodic sound! The Ocean of Soul has performed at numerous high-profile events, including Super Bowl XXXVIII, the 2018 NCAA Final Four, and Wrestlemania 38 at AT&T Stadium. They have performed before capacity crowds for the Houston Texans, Houston Rockets, Dallas Mavericks, and the San Antonio Spurs! Most recently, the band was featured in the 2021 Netflix original, "High on the Hog: How African American Cuisine Transformed America."

Alabama A&M University “Marching Maroon & White" Band

The AAMU Marching Maroon & White band is a high-stepping, dynamic marching band that amazes audiences no matter the location! The Marching Maroon & White band has performed in front of audiences at the Rose Bowl Parade, the Independence Day parade, the National Battle of the Bands, and many other national events. They were recently selected to take part in the 2023 Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade for the first time in AAMU’s history! Out of hundreds of applicants, the band was just one of ten selected for the parade.

The Texas Southern Tigers are currently 4-3 in the conference and 5-5 overall, ranking 2nd in the SWAC Western division behind Prairie View A&M. With star players like QB Andrew Body, who currently ranks 5th in the SWAC for passing yards, the Tigers are looking to avoid repeating history in this matchup against the Alabama A&M Bulldogs, after having lost 49-52 last season.

The Alabama A&M Bulldogs are currently 3-4 in the conference and 3-7 overall, ranking 4th in the SWAC East behind Jackson State who ranks 1st in the division and remains undefeated this season. With a new duo of QBs, including junior Xavier Lankford and Redshirt-sophomore Quincy Casey, the team is hoping to once again come out on top against the Tigers and make their way to the SWAC Championship game.
